Mayor of Port Loko City Council, recently addressed the second batch of 600 employees selected for the “Green Public Works” project

Second phrase of 600 employment for youth of port loko city through the city council for garbage disposal project supported/ funded by the World Bank.

According to the His Worship Mayor of Port Loko City (ALIE BADARA TARAWALLIE) he said, Port Loko City will be one of the best and cleanest cities in Sierra Leone 🇸🇱, because he believes in team and hard work. Collecting and clearing garbage from Port Loko serves multiple crucial purposes. It protects public health by preventing the spread of disease through the elimination of breeding grounds for disease vectors like rats and insects, it improves the city’s aesthetic appeal, making it more attractive to residents, businesses, and tourists, it safeguards the environment by preventing pollution of waterways and soil, thus protecting biodiversity and natural resources. Effective waste management contributes to a higher quality of life for Port Loko’s citizens, fostering a cleaner, safer, and more pleasant environment for all.

The CA explained why the increase of 600 employees compared to the first phrase which was 500, is as a result of the inclusion of a tree-planting exercise within the scope of the Green Public Works project, and they will employ 1,500 youth across three distinct phrases.
